As a dedicated Guidewire Software Engineer – Guidewire Developer (Intermediate Level), you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications using the Guidewire Insurance Suite platform. This role requires a strong understanding of Guidewire products, technologies, and standard methodologies. Selected candidates will work with the development team for USAA’s Guidewire Umbrella Policy Modernization journey.

Provides support to the Enterprise through delivering best in class technology solutions. Engaged in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing software, responding to outages.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be **in the office 4 days per week.** This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, or Phoenix, AZ, Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is available for this position.

**What you’ll do:**

* Design, develop, code, and test technical solutions
* Write code to deliver features, and improvements, on a regular basis
* Investigates and resolve technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques
* Continually improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
* Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
* Follows the software development lifecycle.
* Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

**What you have:**

* 2 years of software development experience specific to a discipline/technology.
* 1 year of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.
* Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python
* Knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting applications and systems within production issues.
* Ability to quickly understand applicable business acumen to provide appropriate Engineering solutions
* Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
* Basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools.

**What sets you apart:**

* Experience with Guidewire Cloud Implementation experience from the Inception to Implementation phases
* 3-5 years hands-on experience with Guidewire Cloud platform (Policy Center), including Product Model configuration, Entity, Batch process, REST, Web services Integrations, PCF, Gosu Scripts, and Rules.
* Able to develop solutions by using Guidewire PolicyCenter out-of-box services, in-house developed APIs, and third-party vendor APIs.
* Guidewire PolicyCenter Associate certification for version 10.x.
* Experience with one or more of these technologies: Java, Kafka, Spring, Redis, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
* Able to articulate complex technology subjects to IT and business audiences at all organizational levels.

**Compensation:** USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $74,210-$141,830.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
